Bucks County-based nonprofit’s golf outing to aid wounded warriors and their families

Posted

Local veterans are expected to attend an annual golf outing hosted by Bucks County-based nonprofit foundation Friends for Heroes on Monday, Aug. 7, at Spring Mill Country Club.

Now in its 8th year, the annual golf outing typically sells out, so those interested in participating are encouraged to sign up early online at friendsforheroes.com.

A participant at the tournament every year, U.S. Army Cpl. Kevin McCloskey, plans to return for this year’s event. After being injured while serving in Afghanistan, Friends for Heroes helped complete a specially accessible home for him and his family in Lower Southampton, and also started a college fund for his son.

Since 2015, Friends for Heroes has raised more than $292,000 in support of local wounded warriors and their family. Over the years, this initiative has made a significant impact in the lives of veterans, offering essential assistance for their needs, including housing accessibility, financial support, mental health resources and more.

The foundation is able to provide this support through the monies raised from its annual golf outing, in addition to partnerships with local businesses and community organizations. Most recently, Friends for Heroes partnered Shamrock Reins, a charitable organization that provides equine-assisted activities and therapies for veterans, active duty and reserve service members. Additionally, Friends for Heroes is working with the local district attorney on funding a social worker for veterans court.

Check-in for the golf outing starts at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and a 1 p.m. start time, and an evening banquet and awards ceremony after the day of golf.

Friends for Heroes owes its success to the unwavering support of corporate sponsors, including Liebmann Family Law, First Citizens Community Bank, The Buck Hotel, Broadridge, United States Cold Storage, and Seravalli Contractors.
