Continuum of Care Programs in Pennsylvania are receiving $147,967,483, including $1,996,724 for projects in Bristol and Bensalem, that provide housing assistance and/or supportive services to people experiencing homelessness, as well as costs related to planning and data collection.
The funds are part of the nearly $3.16 billion in Continuum of Care Program Awards announced Monday, Jan. 29, by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for over 7,000 projects. This represents the largest-ever CoC Program funding awarded to communities to address homelessness ... at a time when rates of homelessness are rising in most communities.
“Now, more than ever, we are doing all we can to get people off the street and into permanent homes with access to services. That is why we are making sure the service providers on the frontlines of this crisis have the resources they need,” said HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge.
Included in the awards total is approximately $136 million for Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) renewal and replacement grants and approximately $57 million for new projects to support housing and service needs for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
