Book your visit to the Nakashima compound in New Hope

Posted

Registration is open for tours of the Nakashima compound, set to take place on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings through October.

There will be a two-hour “Legacy Tour” led by Mira Nakashima, daughter of the late George Nakashima, creative director of George Nakashima Woodworkers, and president of the Nakashima Foundation for Peace, one Saturday per month for $150 each. All other tours will be handled by a Nakashima staff member for $75 per person.

In addition to these options there will be two tours led by Jon Yarnall, a longtime staff member and Mira’s husband. Yarnall will take visitors on a meditative variation of the standard tour.

Nakashima will also offer dates for self-guided tours on select Saturday afternoons.

Tours include stops at Conoid Studio, Chair Shop, Showroom, Reception House, Arts Building, Lumber Shed, Pole Barn and Finishing Room, with a 3/4 mile walk over grass and paths.

Children must be 12 years and older, accompanied by an adult, and have a tour registration.

Spots are extremely limited, reserve your place via the Nakashima Foundation for Peace website at https://nakashimafoundation.org/register-for-a-tour.

The Nakashima Foundation for Peace is continuing the Tools for Peace initiative. The goal of this initiative is to provide the community a curriculum to share skills in coping during these difficult times. The slots for its first workshop are filled up, but look out for future events.

Nakashima Foundation for Peace is located at 1847 Aquetong Road, New Hope. Email info@nakashimafoundation.org or call 215-862-2272 for information.
