Bethlehem Detachment 284, Marine Corps League dinner to honor Citizen of the Year

Posted

Bethlehem Detachment 284, Marine Corps League, hosts Marine Corps Mess Night, a formal military dinner honoring Citizen of the Year Claude S. Rone, at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Sure Stay Plus Hotel by Best Western, routes 22 and 512, Bethlehem.

The event helps honor the outstanding community service of combat-tested U.S. Marine Claude Rone, who earned two Purple Hearts from service during the Vietnam War, and helps raise money for Bethlehem Detachment 284’s continued service to veterans.

Rone last year worked hard to help rebuild a home and rehabilitate it for a veteran in Northampton and has been active in many other community projects and services.

The public is invited to be a part of this tradition and have some fun while raising money for the many events the Detachment sponsors that support veterans and their families. Dress in military uniform, business suit or business casual.

Tickets are $50 per person. Visit the events page at mclbethlehem.org or contact Mess Night coordinator Marine George Borman III at 484-664-8862. The initial ticket sales deadline is Feb. 22, but additional tickets may be available after that date.

Any individual or organization that would like to donate services or merchandise for the event’s Silent Auction or to donate money, can contact Borman at 484-664-8862.
