Posted

Benjamin Worcester Turner, Jr., known to all as “Chip,” died peacefully in the early morning hours of February 20th, 2024.

He was the son of the late Doris Ruth (nee Page) and the late Benjamin Worcester Turner, Sr. After young Benjamin’s many shared attributes with his father were observed, he earned the lifelong nickname Chip as in, “chip off the old block.” Chip was predeceased by his beloved wife of 31 years, Ruth Suzanne Turner (nee Fennimore) and the light of his life, his daughter Page Virginia Turner. Chip was surrounded by close friends John West and Elena Austin. Chip was 76 years old.

Chip was born and raised in Coral Gables, Florida where he remained until his graduation from the University of Miami in the late 1960’s. Chip was bravely one of the first conscientious objectors of the Vietnam War and had to battle all the way through the selective service process along with Muhammad Ali. In the 1970’s he moved up to Bucks County, PA to fulfill his alternate service. Chip worked as a four star sous chef for many years in local restaurants and inns and became very friendly with the chefs in the area. Chip was a collector, seller and knowledgeable appraiser of antiques, books and porcelain. He had an extensive rare book collection and was an avid reader of philosophy, poetry, world history, art history, and religion.

Chip is survived by his two brothers Robert Hunter Turner and Douglas Page Turner of Tennessee and nephews Jonathan, Daniel, Stuart, and Benjamin. Chip will be missed by everyone who still misses Page and Ruth today.

Friends are invited to Trinity Episcopal Church, 6587 Upper York Road, Solebury, PA, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, March 1st, 2024. The family will be receiving beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Trinity Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed, trinitysolebury.org, found under the heading “calendar.”
