Bass player Jason Mosheim prepares release of debut Extended Play

Posted

Jason Mosheim of Green Lane, Bucks County, is preparing to release the debut EP from his solo music project, “Slain Thought,” on Feb. 25.
“A Failed Exorcism” is a blend of post-metal, industrial, doom, and shoegaze that explores the mental toll of grieving unfulfilled wishes.
Mosheim started the project, which centers around the bass, during a stretch of downtime following a running injury in the fall of 2020.
“After 10 years of watching the dust settle on my bass, I started to reacquaint myself with the instrument,” he said. “Within a few weeks, I decided that I would use the bass to lay the foundation for new music, rather than take the conventional guitar-first approach to writing.”

From the melancholy and apocalyptic “Sacred Season” to the venom and desperation of “A Punishment Plate” to the noise and euphoria of “Lavender Soil,” “A Failed Exorcism” tells the story of shameful devotion to the unobtainable and long-gone with “leaden bass chords, anguished delay-drenched vocals, big beats, subtle keyboards, and dissonant, mournful guitars.”
For fans of Godflesh, Jesu, and Neurosis, the music is written, recorded, and mixed by Mosheim in Green Lane, and mastered by James Plotkin.
It releases independently Feb. 25, digitally at slainthought.bandcamp.com and on cassette.
