Bach Choir performs Christmas concerts

The Bach Choir of Bethlehem’s annual Christmas concerts Dec. 7 and 8, will feature the music of J.S. Bach (1685-1750) and George Frederic Handel (1685-1759).

Artistic director and conductor Greg Funfgeld, joined by members of the Bach Festival Orchestra and soloists, will present J.S. Bach’s “Magnificat” and G.F. Handel’s “Messiah, Part One.”

Following tradition, the concert will conclude with the audience joining the choir for some carols, including “Silent Night,” sung in German and English.

Soloists at this year’s performances include: Agnes Zsigovics, soprano; Daniel Taylor, countertenor; Isaiah Bell, tenor; and David Newman, bass-baritone.

Concerts are 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Crest and Tilghman streets, Allentown; and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at First Presbyterian Church, 2344 Center St., Bethlehem.
