Art show + fundraiser with changing prices comes to Flemington DIY

“Take Me Home Tonight!” a group show featuring emerging and established artists will open Friday, Dec. 2, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Flemington DIY.

“Take Me Home Tonight!” is a small works show with two predetermined dimensions. At the one-night-only opening fundraiser event, art lovers can snag works at set prices while supporting artists and the 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, Flemington DIY.

The show is inspired by EZ2Steal, created by Katie Albert and Graham Preston. “When DIY asked us for our blessing to put on a similar show, we thought it was a wonderful opportunity to support artists and creatives,” said Preston. “Creatives are the core that community, culture and commerce spins around. Nurturing community begins with makers, dreamers and thinkers.”

The show will remain hanging until Dec. 22 with the opportunity to buy, but after the opening night, all pieces will be available for purchase at prices set by the artists. How much higher will the price go? How will the price change after the opening?

Flemington DIY began in 2014 and recently moved to a new space on Stangl Road in Flemington N.J. “We continue to elevate our programming, “ said Executive Director Jeff Hersch, “and are looking forward to seeing a lot of participation from artists across the region in this show with a twist.”

“Flemington is building a collaborative and supportive arts scene and it’s really great to see it bloom before my very eyes,” said Kevin Holterman of Kev Von Holt Gallery, also located on Stangl Road, the artist who recently painted the We Are All In Bloom Together mural on the building that houses Flemington DIY.

The opening night will feel like a party with music, food and mingling. Ben Weinman, of Dilinger Escape Plan and current guitarist of Suicidal Tendencies, will donate band-related items for a few lucky attendees to take home on opening night. For information or to register as an artist, visit
