AOY Art Center invites local plein air artists to “Paint Our Towns”

Posted

AOY is hosting a Plein Air Open, now in its third year, where local and regional artists can paint and celebrate the beauty of the historic towns and countrysides of Yardley, Newtown, Washington Crossing, Langhorne and Fallsington.

Interested artists are encouraged to register at aoyarts.org as this is limited to the first 75 registrants. Registrants will not be juried. Artists can find the full prospectus and register at aoyarts.org.

The plein air painting window is from April 30 to May 14 and culminates in a uniquely local exhibition from May 19 to June 5 in AOY Art Center’s Gallery, 949 Mirror Lake Road, Yardley (Lower Makefield), showcasing the best of the best of “Our Towns.”

The first place prize will be $500.

“We are honored to have as judge Bucks County’s own Alan Fetterman,” stated Bette Sovinee, AOY executive director. Fetterman, she said, is a “highly recognized and award-winning American artist that produces work sought and collected for continuing the Pennsylvania and Bucks County impressionist and plein air traditions.”

AOY Art Center has the support of business and community organizations throughout the area, including Countryside Gallery, Experience Yardley, Commonplace Reader, the Friends of Washington Crossing Park and Historic Fallsington.

AOY Art Center is a community not-for-profit art center celebrating 11 years promoting the arts and art education in the community.
