ANEW Artists Alliance returns to AOY Art Center

Posted

AOY Art Center presents the second annual group show of the ANEW Artists Alliance to be held March 10-12 and 17-19.

The gallery, located at 949 Mirror Lake Road on the Patterson Farm in Lower Makefield Township, is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m., and all art will be for sale. Members of the ANEW Artists Alliance and AOY gallery volunteers and will be the hosts.

ANEW Artists Alliance grew out of a group of self-taught artists who in 2001 used the services of the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) and participated for several years in the Extra Helpings art program at TASK.

Over the past 20 years, the talented group of artists have participated in hundreds of shows at diverse venues, including museums, galleries, corporate offices, governmental departments, and nonprofit organizations.

In the spring of 2021, the group initiated a new venture of their own, renaming themselves “ANEW Artists Alliance.” The new home studio, which they are now running themselves with support from a small group of volunteer mentors, is located in donated display space in Princeton, N.J.

The artists’ goal is to learn all the skills required to establish artistic careers of their own. These skills include showing and selling their art at their display space, seeking additional venues, framing their artwork and hanging exhibits; meeting with buyers curators and gallery owners; arranging publicity; and managing finances.

AOY Art Center is a not for profit community art center. For information, visit aoyarts.org.
