Andrew Francis DeLuca

Andrew DeLuca, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at his home on Jan. 4, 2023 in the loving arms of his beloved wife, Marlene. He was 93.

Son of Felicia and Joseph DeLuca, Italian parents who immigrated to the United States in 1920, Andrew was born in Philadelphia in 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters, Mary (DeLuca) Brown, Joseph DeLuca (Loni), Louis DeLuca, and Lillian DeLuca; he is survived by one brother, Amodea DeLuca of Blue Bell, Pa.

Following graduation from South Philadelphia High School for Boys, Andrew was inducted into the United States Army on March 22, 1951 and was honorably discharged on Feb. 27, 1953. He served on the front lines in the Korean War and also served in Japan. He enjoyed being a member of the Jesse W. Soby American Legion Post in Langhorne.

Upon discharge from the Army, Andrew enrolled in night classes at La Salle University while working full time during the day. He earned a degree in industrial engineering.

Andrew was employed as a senior engineer at T.R.W. in Philadelphia for 20 years in various management capacities. His responsibility was designing layouts for commercial buildings, his last assignment being at a plant in Barbados. In 1987 he was promoted to manufacturing manager and was responsible for attending to day to day operations.

Beloved husband of Marlene (Mountain) DeLuca, they celebrated 45 years of marriage. Andrew was the love of Marlene’s life and she knew when she met him that she would marry him. It was love at first sight!

Adored by his children and grandchildren, he is survived by four children, Bonnie Mastromatta (Joseph) of Hamburg, Pa., Lynn Mountain (Schlosser) of Gettysburg, Pa., Brian Mountain (Susan) of Yardley, Pa., and Mark DeLuca of Florida as well as eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Monday, Jan. 23, 2023 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Andrew’s name may be made to Growth Horizons, Inc., 1981 Hartel St., Levittown, PA 19057, attn: Beth Davidson, in honor of his beloved sister-in-law, Patricia Redclift.
