Amwell Ridge Wealth Management celebrates 27th anniversary this year

Posted

Celebrating its 27th anniversary in 2023, Amwell Ridge Wealth Management provides financial planning for affluent families throughout Hunterdon County, N.J.

Flemington, N.J.-based Amwell Ridge Wealth Management specializes in working with people aged 55 and older who are looking for the planning and guidance to ensure a smooth transition into and through their retirement.

According to Managing Partner David Johnston, “It is easier to accumulate and save money than it is to protect it and generate income from it. After people have squirreled away money for decades – and now know they can’t withstand a big market downturn – they seek us out. This is where we specialize. That’s what sets us apart.”

A Certified Financial Planner, Johnston built the firm around the fundamental belief that a proper financial plan begins with risk management, then infuses innovative, enhanced diversification within an investment portfolio.

Clients are attracted to Johnston’s communication skills, as he avoids the typical industry jargon while breaking down the planning process in a conversational and collaborative manner. Additionally, Amwell Ridge’s clients value the firm’s accessibility, responsiveness, and the boutique nature of its services.

Amwell Ridge uses a unique nautical metaphor to explain the peaks and valleys of investing. “Markets go up…and markets go down. Sometimes it’s smooth sailing, while other times the waters are choppy. The fact is, we need to prepare for both,” Johnston says. “We build portfolios designed to prosper during ‘sailing’ markets and withstand ‘rowing’ ones.”

One of the members of the Amwell Ridge team is David’s brother, Adam, who serves as the director of operations.

As proud Revolutionary War reenactors, David and Adam have taken their “sailing and rowing” philosophy to the next level as part of the boat crew charged with rowing George Washington across the Delaware River during a reenactment each Christmas.

David also serves the Hunterdon County community through numerous charitable efforts and community involvement. Most prominently, he serves as board president of the Flemington Community Partnership (FCP), enjoying the intricacies of economic development and being a part of Flemington Borough’s renaissance.
