Alviero Fiaschi

Alviero Fiaschi, 83, of Lambertville, N.J., died on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the Hopewell Campus of Capital Health.

Born in San Casciano, Italy, Alviero was a longtime resident of Lambertville. A gifted culinary artist, he served as the executive chef of the Logan Inn in New Hope from 1979 until his retirement 12 years ago. Earlier he owned and operated Country Kitchen Restaurant in Flemington, N.J., and A & J Pizzeria in Pennington, N.J. Prior to settling in the states, Alviero had a career in food service on several luxury cruise ships including the SS Queen Frederica, SS Homeric, SS Doric and the SS Oceanic. He was educated at the Hotelier School in Florence, Italy where he studied all professional aspects of fine dining, including cooking, bartending, dining room and fine wine service. His work was featured on the Food Network and Sundown Productions: “A Dinner for Two.”

It was aboard a cruise ship that Alviero met Jane Voorhees of Lambertville, N.J. The two became inseparable, they married and Alviero started his life in the states. He and Jane spent part of every year in San Casciano, visiting with their family. He and Jane were parishioners at St. John the Evangelist Church in Lambertville

In addition to his wife, Jane Voorhees Fiaschi, Alviero is survived by his sister Anna Fiaschi and her husband Mario Signorini; his brother Alvaro Fiaschi; his nephew-in-law Michele Gheri and his children Alessandro and Martina Gheri; his niece Elisa Signorini and her daughter Noemi Spagnuolo; his brother-in-law Rocco Palazzolo; his nephew Salvatore John Palazzolo and his wife Melissa Michelle Palazzolo and their children Rocco Dirick Palazzolo and Elisabella Gianna Palazzolo; his nephew John Mario Palazzolo and his wife Vicey Lynn Palazzolo and their children Theresa Venera Palazzolo and Rocco Mario Palazzolo; his niece Erina Venera Palazzolo and her husband Piero Bologna and their children Sara and Marco Bologna; his sister-in-law and her husband JoAnne and Robert Searles and their daughter Amy Searles. Alviero was predeceased by his parents Ugo and Carolina Martucci Fiaschi, his sister-in-law Teri Voorhees Palazzolo and his niece Sandra Signorini.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 44 Bridge St., Lambertville, NJ 08530. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.

There will be calling hours on Tuesday afternoon, May 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York St., Lambertville, NJ 08530.
