Alums return to Solebury School for multi-generational reunion

Posted

Solebury School held its annual reunion weekend from May 3-5.

Hundreds of alum classes spanning from the 1950s to the 2020s returned to campus to participate in activities and reconnect with classmates. The weekend kicked off with a benefit concert by piano virtuoso Chris Jarrett, Class of 1974. Many attended reception gatherings, celebrated classmate achievements during awards ceremonies, and enjoyed the largest gathering during Solefest activities.

Solebury alums spent the weekend catching up with friends and creating new memories. Saturday morning began with a memorial service for members of the Solebury community who were no longer with us and a rededication of the Solebury Memorial Garden. Alums took student-guided walking tours of the campus, remembering past times as they visited familiar places and took notice of new additions. Those who attended the Athletic Hall of Fame and Alumni Achievement Awards witnessed the posthumous induction of Blake Bozeman, Class of 2011, into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

New this year was the Alumni Achievement Award, which recognized individuals who distinguished themselves through character, service, and achievement and offered inspiration to current and future generations of Solebury students. This year’s awardees were Peggy Shepard, Class of 1963, co-founder and executive sirector of WE ACT, and Bill Berkeley, Class of 1949, former director of A Better Chance.

Solefest was the largest community gathering of the weekend, where current families and staff joined with alumni to participate in exciting festivities. They listened to live entertainment provided by student musicians and alums. Children played in the kids’ zone, which offered face painting, a bounce house, Ben’s Balloon Animals, and interactive activities. Everyone enjoyed treats from Funellas funnel Cake and Nomad Pizza food trucks, delectable barbeque, and the camaraderie of reminiscing with old friends and meeting new ones.
