Acting Naturally winding down in Middletown

Posted

Citing “financial strains with post-COVID costs,” a Middletown Township nonprofit theater operation at the Shoppes at Flowers Mill will go dark at the end of April.

Founded by Wendy Force in 2006, Acting Naturally Inc. put on 16 to 18 shows per year for audiences of all ages.

“I am sad to leave our space at Flowers Mill,” Force said in an email Thursday. “The theater served such an important need in the community. I will miss seeing all of our actors, parents and patrons!”

The email suggested that Force plans to continue to direct school plays and community theater productions locally.

“While financial burdens may have prevented the theater from continuing on at the Shoppes at Flowers Mills, this isn’t the end of the road for Force or Acting Naturally,” the emailed statement read.

In addition to shows, the organization offered voice and dance lessons, summer camps, improv classes, scene study classes, programs to train on film and TV and a Repertory Company. It also offered up its performance space for community concerts, family events and awards ceremonies.

The performing arts nonprofit still has a handful of remaining events to put on this spring.

They include Frozen Jr. (March 22-23), a 2024 Dance & Voice Recital (March 30), Into the Woods Jr. (April 4-5) and Bucks to Broadway Cabaret (April 12). Tickets are available at http://actingnaturally.com/.
