ACME Screening Room presents Juneteenth event

Posted

Join the Acme on Saturday, at 6 p.m. for a special Juneteenth screening.

“The Melt Goes on Forever” chronicles the singular career of the elusive African-American art star David Hammons from Watts rebellion era ’60s L.A. to global art world prominence today.

Hammons’ category-defying practice – rooted in a deep critique of American society and the elite art world – is in the words of one art critic “an invitation to confront the fissures between races.”

The screening will be followed by a Juneteenth party at Scrambled Gallery in New Hope, on the boardwalk by New Hope Arts. Join in for drinks, light fare, and live entertainment. The event is sponsored by Union Coffee and appetizers provided by Under the Moon and More Than Q. Admission is $15 for screening and the party, or $10 for members.
