A late morning fire ripped through an Oak Lane home last week, leaving a family of five homeless for at least a year, according to a GoFundMe page started by friends.
No one was home at the time of the blaze, although three dogs were inside.
Two of the animals, Paisley and Finley, escaped when the local mail carrier saw the flames and forced his way into the house. A third dog, Lola, panicked and ran back inside, the fundraising page, started by Tara Stemborski on behalf of Amanda Moyer, said.
Although she sustained smoke inhalation, firefighters gave Lola oxygen and she was released from Quakertown Animal Hospital on Monday.
It took firefighters from nine companies to bring the Jan. 10 fire under control, as they battled the blaze. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Bucks County Fire Marshal’s office.
The GoFundMe page is asking for donations of money, gift cards, clothing and other daily necessities.
“The family has been left without clothing or any basic possessions,” the fundraiser states. “All help will go 100 percent to Amanda and the kids (ages 10 to 20) and any veterinary medical expenses need to aid Lola.”
Donations had reached $32,615 from 417 donors, as of Jan.17.
