PA Department of Health provides update on COVID-19, 888 new positives bring statewide total to 51,845
The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed that as of noon
May 6, there are 888 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the
statewide total to 51,845. All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases
of COVID-19. Today, the state is reporting an increase of 94 new deaths,
bringing the statewide total to 3,106 deaths in Pennsylvania. Bucks
County reports 3,508 cases and 304 deaths; Chester County 1,601 cases
and 149 deaths; Delaware County 4,373 cases and 326 deaths; Lehigh
County 3,063 cases and 102 deaths; Montgomery County 4,827 cases and 471
deaths; Northampton County 2,313 cases and 122 deaths; Philadelphia
13,742 cases and 625 deaths.
New Jersey reports 131,890 positive COVID-19 cases
The New Jersey Department of Health announced that as of May 6, there
are 131,890 positive cases of COVID-19 and 8,549 people have died.
There are 4,860 Mercer County residents who have tested positive for
COVID-19 and 298 people have died. Hunterdon County reported 682 cases
and 39 deaths.

Fitzpatrick co-introduces bipartisan legislation to provide student debt relief to essential workers
U.S. Reps. Brain Fitzpatrick (PA-01) and Annie Kuster (NH-02) introduced
legislation yesterday to provide $25,000 in either student loan debt
relief or education benefits to essential workers and their family
members. The Opportunities for Heroes Act recognizes the contributions
made by a diverse set of workers, including firefighters and first
responders, health care providers, grocery store employees,
transportation workers, and more, to help Americans through the COVID-19
health emergency.

Gov. Wolf: Free N95 decontamination system for health care facilities, first responders now available
Gov. Tom Wolf today announced the availability of a program to provide
free N95 respirator decontamination to health care facilities, first
responders, and other eligible organizations that may be experiencing a
shortage of the respirators due to limited availability through normal
procurement channels. “We are in the midst of an unprecedented shortage
of personal protective equipment,” said Wolf. “This critical
decontamination service, provided at no cost by the US Department of
Health and Human Services (US HHS), gives us another option for making
sure that the people at the forefront of this pandemic have the
equipment they need to stay safe.”

St. Luke’s conducts more than 100,000 virtual visits during COVID-19 crisis
In March as COVID-19 began to spread throughout the Lehigh Valley, St.
Luke‘s University Health Network took extraordinary steps to keep as
many patient appointments as possible by establishing itself as the
regional leader in digital health. More than 1,200 providers, including
physical therapists, were trained to perform virtual visits. By last
week, they had conducted more than 100,000 telehealth appointments.
