The Bookshop hosts four music-scene insiders who will share their backstage stories of NYC's recording studios, concert venues, and dance clubs.
Barb Morrison is a non binary Platinum record producer, Top 5 Billboard dance chart songwriter, and recording artist. Their memoir-in-progress features their performances at CBGB, growing up in the East Village, compositions for film scores, and work as a producer helping artists including Blondie, LP, and Franz Ferdinand tell their stories through music.
The documentary of Michael Alago's incredible life describes his path as "a gay Puerto Rican kid from Brooklyn who went on to shape and reinvent the world's musical landscape," including in the 80's NYC club scene, then as the A&R record exec who signed Metallica and White Zombie and worked with Nina Simone, Cyndi Lauper, and Johnny Lydon, and more recently as an art photographer. He will read from his memoir, "I Am Michael Alago."
