Doylestown Township received the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors’ 2024 annual Outstanding Citizen Communication Award for a Township with a Population Over 5,000 during the association’s Excellence Awards ceremony.
The event, which recognizes the significant achievements of townships and their officials from across the state, was held as part of PSATS’ 2024 annual Educational Conference and Exhibit Show in Hershey.
The association presents the award each year as part of its annual Citizen Communication Contest, which recognizes townships across the state for their achievements in communicating current township issues through print publications and other media.
The contest attracted entries from across the commonwealth in seven categories, including printed and electronic newsletters, most improved newsletters, other publications, multimedia communication, social media, and websites. In all, 31 townships submitted 130 entries for this year’s competition, and 16 individual townships won awards.
In addition to the Outstanding Citizen Communication Award, Doylestown Township also tied for first place in the Most Improved Newsletter and Social Media categories and tied for third place in the Other Publications category.
“Our communications efforts have evolved over the years,” said Doylestown Township Manager Stephanie Mason. “We began in the 1980s with just a newsletter and over the years added other publications, our website, a government access channel, social media, as well as a weekly E-Friday News email. Residents receive information in different ways, and as a township, we must find the various avenues available for us to communicate effectively with our community.”
