Penn Community Bank has been honored as a Distinguished Corporate Sponsor by the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County, in recognition of its support for musical enrichment programs for economically at-risk students in Bristol Borough, Bristol Township and Morrisville schools.
Over the years, Penn Community Bank has provided financial support for the orchestra’s community outreach program, Students in Concert.
The program first partnered with teachers in the Bristol Township School District to provide musical instruments and instruction to students at no cost to the school district or to parents. In 2016, Students in Concert expanded into the Morrisville School District, enabling students in grades 6 through 12 to receive a violin and lessons at no cost to the students or their parents.
“We are proud to support Youth Orchestra of Bucks County’s mission to bring musical education to financially disadvantaged students in Lower Bucks County,” said Todd R. Hurley, executive vice president, chief relationship officer of Penn Community Bank.
“Young people who are afforded the opportunity to participate in musical education programs reap many benefits, including increased self-confidence and the sense of community, commitment and teamwork that comes from the serious study of classical music within an orchestra setting.”
The Distinguished Corporate Sponsor award, the first of its kind for Youth Orchestra of Bucks County, was presented during the organization’s annual gala benefit, held Feb. 23 at the Settlement Music School in Willow Grove.
