Young musicians to raise funds ... by practicing

Posted
Trenton Music Makers is promoting an opportunity for young people, missing their own orchestras and bands while their schools are closed, to play “together,” in support of Trenton youth whose orchestra is currently meeting on Zoom. They can invite sponsors to make per-minute pledges in support of the Trenton-based youth orchestra.

“Both Trenton and suburban kids can double down on their practice at home, and let their family and friends know they’re doing it,” said Executive Director Carol Burden. “A little extra motivation to practice is helpful, right? This time, kids can help out others at the same time.”

The Princeton Public Schools and Princeton Friends School will partner with Trenton Music Makers to encourage their students to participate. Funds raised will help to keep Trenton Music Makers’ teaching artists, a unique mix of seasoned instructors, freelance gig musicians, and certified schoolteachers, fully employed while the stay-at-home order is in place. It also helps keep instruments in good repair, and Trenton kids connected by Wi-Fi.
