YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties’ Megan McCuen named America’s Favorite Fitness Instructor by Burnalong

Posted

YMCA Director of Group Wellness and Engagement Megan McCuen has been named America’s Favorite Instructor by Burnalong, the online digital health solution. McCuen is a popular instructor on Y Wellness 24/7, an online virtual wellness site powered by Burnalong, providing thousands of live and on-demand wellness resources including fitness, nutrition and mindfulness classes.

With more than 20 years of experience in the health and fitness field, McCuen focuses on inclusive fitness so that everyone can participate, whether they are new to their fitness journey, have stopped exercising, or require modifications to accommodate varying levels of mobility.

"What an honor to win America's Favorite Instructor title. Thank you to all who nominated and voted for me! I absolutely love teaching all levels and abilities of fitness,” says Megan McCuen, winner of America’s Favorite Instructor. “Being on Burnalong has helped me reach members far beyond my local YMCA to help them improve their fitness and enhance their quality of life through increased strength, mobility, and confidence. I realize that not everyone loves to exercise but we all know how important it is so I try to make each workout a fun experience.”

From Nov. 13-20, 2022, Burnalong instructors were nominated for the title, receiving thousands of votes and hundreds of supportive comments. Voters ranged from students to seniors of all fitness levels, representing the diversity of users across Burnalong. McCuen received high praise from voters who have been positively impacted by her passion and work.

During the early stages of the pandemic, McCuen led the charge for instructors from YMCAs across Bucks County to rally members to classes on Zoom.

“Zoom is great for meetings, but it is not ideal for fitness, specifically movement with music,” McCuen noted. “But our classes grew popular with our members. When we transitioned to Burnalong and created Y Wellness 24/7, the technology improved how we delivered the classes. I was able to do more, and reach more people.”

“We are so proud of Megan’s work and the solid connections she has built with Y members, both online and in person,” says Trish Feinthel, chief operations officer of YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties. “Wellness is about mind, body and spirit. So making connections is as important as instructing the exercise movements. Even though Y Wellness 24/7 is virtual, the Burnalong platform allows Megan to make those connections with people and share her passion for wellness. We are so grateful for her continued service to the community.”

McCuen holds certifications as an AAI/ISMA Certified Personal Trainer, Primary Group Exercise, Weight Management, Sports Nutrition Coach; she is also a certified Body Pump trainer, AFAA Group Exercise certified, and has Tivity’s SilverSneakers Cardio, Circuit, and Classic certifications.
