YMCA Kids Triathlon returns to Doylestown

Posted

YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties will host its first Kids Triathlon since 2019 at the Doylestown branch on Sunday, Sept. 25.

The YMCA Kids Tri has been an annual event for the community since 2008, but was paused along with other events since 2020. The 12th annual Kids Tri will be held from 7:30-11 a.m. and is open to athletes ages 3 to 14.

The YMCA Kids Tri is a swim, run and bike event incorporating indoor and outdoor use of the Doylestown branch, including the pool, parking lots and surrounding neighborhood streets.

Courses are configured to the age groups, respectively, featuring a special “Weebees” course for 3- to 5-year-olds accompanied by an adult. The theme of this year’s event is “Compete to Complete,” celebrating all who enter and complete their course with a fun, single-podium finish line experience.

Featured at this year’s Kids Triathlon is the Kids Tri Village, including shaded waiting areas, refreshments, activities and live music by Bobby Beetcut. Central to “Compete to Complete” in the village activities is “Y For All.” The Y recognizes that individuals, families, and communities are diverse, and it is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone belongs and succeeds.

The Y’s 12th annual Kids Triathlon is presented by Fred Beans Family of Dealerships, as well as Giggleberry Fair. For more information, visit https://www.ymcabucks.org/seasonal-events/kids-tri, as well as sign up for the free transitional clinic, Thursday, Sept. 22 from 6-7 p.m. at the Doylestown branch.

The transitional clinic teaches young triathletes how to set up their transition area for moving from swim to bike, and bike to run in preparation to “Compete to Complete” the triathlon.
