Yellow Springs Art Show moves online; opens tonight

Posted
The village of Historic Yellow Springs (HYS) expected to be overwhelmed with visitors tonight for the opening night gala of the 47th annual Yellow Springs Art Show. For 46 years, HYS has been showcasing talented artists from around the country, and is still hoping to do so, later this year. Now, however, HYS is launching its first-ever online Art Show and Sale, beginning tonight at 5 p.m. at

Read more: Many visitors and even neighbors are often under the impression that HYS is a state entity and therefore funded and maintained through the state. It is not; it is a private 501c3 nonprofit that depends on its Annual Art Show for a very large portion of its income to carry it throughout the year and allow it to maintain the village, the trails and offer programs, lectures, classes and beauty that comes from a true piece of American History.

The 196 artists who planned to participate in the live show, have provided pieces for the online launch. HYS expects to add galleries to the site each week with new works of art available. Participating artists will show paintings, drawings, graphics, and 3-dimensional works in a variety of styles and mediums. As well, HYS is working on video interviews with various artists; giving viewers an insight they might not have gotten previously.

All of the proceeds benefit arts, education, historic preservation and the environmental protection of the historic village of Yellow Springs.
