Worthy of ceremony

Posted

Justine Newman carries the flag presented to her at the burial ceremony for unclaimed veterans at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Four from Bucks County were among the 14 veterans given full military honors. Newman, an intern for the Chester County Coroner’s Office identified nine of the veterans, organized the ceremony and developed a process for identifying the unclaimed dead that is expected to be used in other counties. The cemetery holds a service each month for veterans whose burials are unattended. Joseph Fluehr Funeral Home provided the hearse.
