Who Is that masked man?

Lest there be no doubt, Brian Fitzpatrick is a careful chameleon. He assumes one color locally (“our” Independent) where he takes on the hue of non-partisanship, a humble family man that truly represents “our community.”

He almost says “Aw, shucks” removing the piece of straw from his teeth. His monthly newsletter rarely, if ever, uses the word “Republican” to identify himself.

As elections approach however, his hues reveal an even more local cast, where the street signs in New Hope tout his political “independence,” while the signs in Lower Makefield don’t carry that same tone.

If one is confused by this seeming bipolarism, find out about how he votes in Washington on the core issues.

He has voted AGAINST: the Women’s Health Protection Act; the impeachment of Trump; the Build Back Better Act, wetlands conservation; finding Peter Navarro and Mark Meadows in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with subpoenas; the right of women to elect an abortion; establishing the January 6 investigation committee; and most recently, the bill designed to lower medical prescriptions for seniors, fund efforts to address the climate crises and improve our environmental protection.

These are some highlights of many. Almost all represent straight party-line voting. Guess which party?

One might justify this as being practical or simply realistic, given the demographics of his District. Another might point it up as Machiaveillanism or being unscrupulous. Whereas another could note that the guy will do anything, anywhere, to get elected and keep his seat. As Lincoln said, “You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”
