The U.S. Army believes Pfc. Sage Lau of Alexandria Township is officer material. The 2017 Delaware Valley High School graduate will be entering the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., in July.
Lau enlisted in the Army during his junior year and began training as a chemical specialist after graduation in 2018. At the end of his initial entry training and after his advanced training as a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear specialist, he was an honor graduate, and he received various awards and commendations during his service in South Korea.
His performance caught the attention of the West Point admissions office, and he was invited to apply to West Point. His application was accepted.
Lau is currently at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri studying to become a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear response team member. Then he will report to Fort Bragg in North Carolina to work in military intelligence before moving on to the academy. Upon graduation he will hold a second lieutenant’s commission and a bachelor of science degree.
