Wesley Enhanced Living announces COVID-19 vaccine requirement for employees

Posted

Wesley Enhanced Living has announced employees across its six senior living communities will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Sep. 1.

The requirement applies to more than 1,100 Wesley Enhanced Living employees that serve the organization’s communities in Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. Importantly, the vast majority of employees have already been vaccinated.

Wesley Enhanced Living has strongly encouraged vaccination for its team members, residents and visitors since the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first vaccines in December 2020.  Employees at Wesley Enhanced Living may be granted an exemption to the COVID-19 vaccination for medical or religious reasons.

“Wesley Enhanced Living believes this mandate is imperative to ensure the health and safety of our senior residents, employees and visitors,” said Jeff Petty, president and chief executive officer of Wesley Enhanced Living. “We came to this after careful review and recommendations from the CDC and the broad-based and ever-expanding spectrum of health care providers taking this step. Broad immunization is the most effective way to end the pandemic.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate approximately 335 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the U.S. The vaccines are proven to be safe and effective against symptomatic infections, hospitalizations and death.

Wesley Enhanced Living will continue to offer COVID-19 vaccinations at each community, and employees can receive their vaccine at any local pharmacy or state-authorized location. Team members are able to receive any vaccine (currently Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson) authorized for use in the United States.
