Webb Telescope images celebration and star gazing slated at Grundy Library

Posted

Families and friends are invited to visit the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, 680 Radcliffe St., Bristol, for a Webb Telescope First Images Celebration and Star Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, rain or shine.

Chosen as a “First Images” participant by NASA, the Grundy Library joined almost 500 other sites to celebrate the James Webb Telescope launch and now continues to celebrate by displaying some of the first images sent to Earth by the telescope.

Joining in for the celebration are astronomy enthusiasts from Bucks-Mont Astronomical Association (BMAA). Members of the association will be on-site to share their telescopes for moon watching and star gazing; Saturday, Oct. 1, is also International Observe the Moon Night, a day to learn about lunar science and exploration.

Other activities include stomp rockets, arts and crafts, games, a photo booth, space-themed Take & Make kits, and more. Snacks will be provided. No reservations are required for this free, family-friendly event.
