Warrington Lions to host first annual cookie contest

Come out for some delicious holiday fun from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Ben Wilson Senior Center in Warminster, when the Warrington Lions Club will host its first annual holiday cookie contest and pictures with Santa.
Amateur and professional bakers are invited to enter samples of their favorite holiday cookie recipe to compete for blue ribbons. Event attendees will sample up to 40 types of cookies and can buy chances to win their favorite varieties while children visit with Santa Claus (fully vaccinated with real beard and professional backdrop). Proceeds will benefit local charities, including Lions Pride Park.
Bakers must register by Dec. 3, to enter at warringtonlions.org. Entry fee is $25 per baker for one cookie type each. Up to 40 bakers will bring a minimum of four dozen of their cookie – one dozen for display and judging, one dozen for a chance auction, and at least two dozen for tasting by event attendees. Judges will evaluate each cookie on taste, presentation, and creativity of name. Bakers should arrive by 12:30 p.m. to set up.

Event participants can purchase tickets in advance at warringtonlions.org or at the door. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Parents are asked to donate $5 per child to take a picture with Santa. In addition to tasting up to 40 types of holiday cookies, participants may purchase chances to win a dozen of their favorite cookies.
Proceeds from the holiday cookie contest and other Warrington Lions Club fundraisers benefit a number of local charities supported by the Warrington Lions Club, including the Bucks County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Special Equestrians, Tabor Children’s Services, the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic, and Lions Pride Park.
Lions Pride Park is a joint project of the Warrington Lions Club and Warrington Township. With nearly $2 million in support from the Township, the Warrington Lions Club, and many corporate and individual donors, the intergenerational, fully accessible park was constructed and opened in October 2020 and is enjoyed by hundreds of people every week.
