Virtual town hall to denounce the privatization of the Bucks County Water & Sewer Authority’s sewer system

Municipal officials, residents, and union leaders will provide information about the proposed sewer system sale, the largest transaction of its kind in U.S. history

Posted

At 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, Neighbors Opposing Privatization Efforts (NOPE) will host a town hall meeting about the sale of the Bucks County Water & Sewer Authority sewer system.

In July, the BCWSA announced an exclusivity agreement to finalize the sale of the sewer system to Aqua Pennsylvania, a subsidiary of Essential Utilities. The sale would be the largest sewer privatization in U.S. history.

The BCWSA and Aqua held two corporate expos in late July with little notice and little opportunity for the public to ask questions or provide comments. The NOPE Town Hall will provide an overview of the sewer sale, an analysis of its financial impact on residents and local businesses, and an opportunity for the public to engage.
