Vietnam War veterans recognized in Doylestown

Posted

The Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Ceremony, held March 29 at Albert R. Atkinson Jr. American Legion Post 210 in Doylestown, was well-attended by over 50 veterans and their families.

Speakers included Green Beret Bill Malone, who told a few stories of his experiences in-country, including building and staffing schools for young Vietnamese children.

The original proclamation establishing this recognition day was read; the proclamation was issued by President Obama and reaffirmed by both subsequent presidents. Recognition pins authorized by Congress and provided by the Department of Defense were presented, with gratitude to each veteran, by the Commander and the vice commander of Post 210.

Refreshments were served after and during the presentations.
