Upper Makefield looks to make road improvements

Posted

Upper Makefield officials are ready to undertake road improvements in the municipality.

At a recent public meeting, the Upper Makefield Board of Supervisors authorized township professionals to begin soliciting bids from contractors for roadway projects they aim to accomplish in 2023.

Township Manager Dave Nyman said it’s not yet known when bids would be opened and the work awarded to a winning contractor but officials are keen to line up a capable company for when the warm weather arrives and paving can proceed.

The roads that Upper Makefield plans to focus on are Bailey Drive, Bankers Drive, Bakers Drive, Dunkin Drive, Beaumont Drive, Emerald Court and Russel Court. The township complex on the public works and township building side could also receive treatment, as could Declaration Place.

For most of the roads, the anticipated work will focus on road paving that will include 3-foot edge milling, base repair, leveling, tack coat, wearing course overlay, and joint sealing as required.

The Township Complex, described as a first alternate, will include full-depth milling, base repair, leveling, tack coat, wearing course overlay and miscellaneous line striping. Declaration Place, described as alternate #2, will include full-depth milling base repair and wearing course overlay.
