Schirmer received the Outstanding level III awards in his program and is a Cooperative Education student employed at CDI Lawn Equipment. He competed at the SkillsUSA State Competition and placed third in Marine Service Technology.

Bill Young is Schirmer’s instructor and commented, “I’ve had the pleasure of teaching Joey Schirmer for the past four years and watched him grow into a fine young man with excellent skills. Joey has always been a pleasure to work with and will be successful in anything he pursues. It’s my honor to nominate Joey for the student of the month, for he is an excellent example of how CTE can set up a student for successful lifelong learning.“

Mentor Dan Iannella, vice president of CDI Lawn Equipment, wrote, “Joey is a small engine tech at our shop, CDI Lawn Equipment. Joey is hardworking and is always ready to help others. His skills are exceptional for his age. Everyone at our shop appreciates Joey’s hard work. Lately, I’ve been giving him more challenging jobs because I trust him. I know he will take his time and figure it out. Besides Joey’s mechanical skills, I can’t say enough about Joey as a person. He’s friendly and always has a positive attitude. He’s a pleasure to work with. I’m so grateful Joey is a part of our team.”
