United Way asks community to help unlock $25,000 gift

Posted

United Way of Bucks County is asking its neighbors to help fight hunger by unlocking a challenge gift. If the nonprofit can secure 250 gifts (donations of any size) before July 5, local couple Simon and Jane Hallett will donate $25,000 to Bucks Knocks Out Hunger.
Bucks Knocks Out Hunger is a fundraiser for local food pantries. It provides hunger relief to families struggling to get back on their feet.
“This challenge gift is an incredible opportunity to ensure that people are not only fed but receive healthy foods that meet their nutritional needs,” said Marissa Christie, president and CEO at United Way of Bucks County. “Our hunger relief sites are serving twice as many people as they did pre-pandemic. Your support – big or small – will help your neighbors recover and rebuild.”

The COVID-19 pandemic caused an additional 30,000 people to experience food insecurity in Bucks County. Funds raised for Bucks Knocks Out Hunger will supplement local food pantries with healthy options like fresh eggs, fruits, vegetables and milk.
Donations can be made at uwbucks.org/bkohunger or by mailing a check to United Way of Bucks County at 413 Hood Boulevard, Fairless Hills, PA 19030, with BKO Hunger in the memo line.
