Two Town Turkey Trot goes virtual for 2020

Posted

This year’s Thanksgiving run through New Hope, and Lambertville, N.J., just like most other events, will be different.

The Tohickon Settlement Services Two Town Turkey Trot will take place from Saturday, Nov. 21, to noon on Thursday, Nov. 26, Thanksgiving Day.

The 2020 Two Town Turkey Trot has gone virtual but race organizers encourage runners and walkers to keep the tradition alive. At stake are $425 in prizes – including gift cards to Cornerstone Clubs, an American Express (no-fee card), a Rago Auctions prize and more.

“We wish we could be in person this year, but like so many events and races, the safety and well-being of our Turkey Trot family, friends, sponsors, volunteers, and participants are our highest priority,” said Cindy Kunnas, executive director.

Participants can run a 5K or walk 1-mile anywhere they choose. “Run in your neighborhood, a park, or our course from last year’s Two Town Turkey Trot, Kunnas said.

A map of last year’s route can be found at delawarerivertowns.com/turkey-trot.

The organizers ask that runners do not run the course in a big group and also to be socially distant.

The entry fee is $35 until Nov. 20, higher after that date.

To sign up, go to delawarerivertowns.com/turkey-trot.

Participants will upload their race times and photos after completing the run or walk. They can use any app for tracking the run or walk. A free T-shirt will arrive in December.

All proceeds will benefit the Delaware River Towns Chamber of Commerce and Fisherman’s Mark. To donate a nonperishable item to Fisherman’s Mark, on dry days it can be left at a table outside during their business hours. The address is 37 S.l Main St., Lambertville.
