Trisha Vergis solo exhibition opens at Silverman Gallery

Posted

Well-known Hunterdon and Bucks County artist Trisha Vergis opens her solo exhibition this weekend at the Silverman Gallery of Bucks County Impressionist Art.
Join the artist for her opening receptions, taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 and again the following weekend from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3.
“We are so looking forward to bringing together and showing off this great collection of Trisha’s work from over the past year,” said gallery owner Rhonda Garland. “This is especially poignant, knowing how proud Herman would be to have this exhibition taking place. Trisha was always one of his favorite people.”
Ten years ago, Herman Silverman opened the gallery and was a huge fan and proponent of the arts in the area until his passing in 2017 at the age of 97.
Vergis was added to the gallery’s roster of fine artists just before COVID shut things down. A woman of “determination and incredible spirit,” she kept right on painting.

The exhibition, titled “Deeply Rooted,” resonates with her strong ties to the people, places and history of Bucks and Hunterdon counties. Destined to become an artist, Vergis honed her skills as a wood carver, oil painter, gallery owner and teacher. These connections are evident in everything she paints.
Working as a direct painter, Vergis can be spotted alongside the Delaware, at a local jazz festival or at a friend’s farm working in plein air. In her studio, objects are carefully selected, arranged and lit.
She sees and sketches in the wilt of a sunflower, capturing nature, celebrating the beauty of imperfection. A worn farm chair, a slice of peach, flowers from a friend’s garden and the occasional cat are rendered in her signature palette with a mastery of light and shadow.
Silverman Gallery asks all visitors to keep their masks on inside the gallery. A designated seating area will be set up outside for drinks and snacks. Call 215-794-4300 for information or to set up a private appointment to view the exhibition.
The gallery is located in Buckingham Green, 4920 York Road (Route 202) in Holicong, just south of Peddler’s Village. An online listing of available work can be found at silvermangallery.com.
