Trenton Artworks holds reception for new exhibitions

Posted

The opening reception for the latest exhibition at Artworks, Trenton’s Visual Arts Center, is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 18. The exhibition includes two subjects.

“The Souls Shot Portrait Project” uses the transformative power of art to bring an end to gun violence. Artists, working with families, create portraits to honor the souls shot. By exhibiting the resulting artwork to the public, the exhibition invites the community to recognize what has been lost and to take action to end gun violence.

“The Potential Project: 21 Stories of Trenton” is a multimedia exhibition that features portraits of Trentonians lost to violence. The exhibition uses augmented reality technology to create four-dimensional, multimedia pieces created by Bentrice Jusu and a team of five Trenton-based artists.

The two-year project was funded by the Kresge Foundation and hosted at Artworks, with administrative and programmatic support from Trenton Health Team.
