Toys for Tots in need of space in Central Bucks

The Toys for Tots program in Bucks County is pleading for help to find a warehouse to store thousands of toys and operate its holiday program that provides toys for more than 3,000 needy children in the county.

“If we don’t find a space, there’s not going to be a Toys for Tots this year,” said Kevin Miller, a retired U.S. Marine Corps sergeant, who has run the volunteer-based program for 30 years.

The nonprofit organization only has until the end of September to vacate its current location, which is being sold. While a volunteer with the group is emptying her large garage to make a temporary home for the toys, it’s far from a solution, Miller stressed.

“We’re really scrambling,” he said.

Ideally, a 2,500-square-foot warehouse-type space is needed on the north side of the Doylestown/Plumsteadville/Pipersville area of the county. That area serves as a hub for the volunteers who collect the toys, Miller said. The space needs to have electricity and a restroom.
