Tickets on sale for Newtown Theatre Black & White Dinner

Posted

Tickets are now on sale for the annual Newtown Black & White Dinner, being held this year on Saturday, Sept. 10 and benefiting the historic Newtown Theatre.

During the event, up to 500 black-and-white clad diners will gather on Newtown Borough’s closed-down North State Street for a one-of-a-kind alfresco picnic held in the middle of the street.

This year’s event is sponsored by Playa Bowls in Newtown, Anthony Paul Pinto of Bucks RE/MAX Properties, and Just Food prepared food and custom catering in Buckingham.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. when diners arrive to find tables draped in white linens stretching hundreds of feet down the street. Guests can mingle, decorate their tables, and enjoy live jazz music prior to dinner, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

Dinner will conclude at 8 p.m. with a communal and Instagram-worthy lighting of sparklers by the diners. Immediately following dinner, guests are invited inside the theater for a screening of “Casablanca” and a cash bar (230-person seating limit).

For this event, diners are to dress only in black and white (formal wear is absolutely not required) and bring everything they need for dinner under the stars, including food, utensils, and optional black and white décor.

This year, diners can choose to pre-order dinner prepared by event sponsor Just Food for an additional charge when they purchase tickets. Dinners will be available for pickup at the event and are served cold. Special black and white ice cream desserts will be served to all diners from an old-fashioned pushcart.

Creativity will be rewarded with prizes for the Best Dressed Man and Woman, Best Dressed Group, Most Elegant Table, and Most Creative Table.

Tickets for the dinner are $20 per person for theater members and $25 for nonmembers (price does not include preordered dinners). For information and tickets, visit TheNewtownTheatre.com/blackandwhitedinner.
