Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church offers free community meal

Posted

As the legendary chef James Beard once said, “Food is our common ground, a universal experience.”

And Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church in New Hope is providing that experience by hosting a free community meal that is open to everyone from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11.

This is yet another installment in Thompson Memorial’s history of providing free meals on the second Sunday of each month to those in its church family and the community. The church is located at 1680 Aquetong Road, New Hope.

The meals are held in Thompson Memorial’s Fellowship Hall and follow the contemporary worship service which takes place in the same location. All are invited to join the service before getting something to eat.

There is a different theme at each meal (tacos for September) and all the meals feature a main dish, with potluck sides, salads, and desserts. They also try to always provide gluten-free and vegan/vegetarian options (look for dishes labeled with GF and V), but be aware that they cannot guarantee food is 100% “free-from” in cases of severe allergies, as most of the dishes are made by volunteers in home kitchens.

The folks at Thompson Memorial also provide take-out containers to fill and take home for those who prefer to stay masked in public, or if you’d like to deliver a meal to someone else.
