The Great American Relay

Posted

Runners taking part in The Great American Relay stopped on Route 202 in Lahaska to take photographs with members of the Midway Fire Company on Tuesday. The group was running a 5-mile leg of the 415-stage relay, started on the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11, to raise money for first responders and the military. The relay travels across 18 states and over 3,500 miles from Boston to Santa Monica, Calif., and is expected to last for 38 days. Each stage is between 5 and 22 miles. The relay travels past the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, Shanksville, Pa., and many other historic locations.
