The Community Spelling Bee returns this October

The Community Spelling Bee, a fundraiser for The Free Library of New Hope & Solebury, will return in October after a year hiatus.
Hosted by the library’s board of trustees, the adult team competition will be held in the New Hope-Solebury High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1.
Each team is comprised of three spellers (ages 16 and older) who work together to spell the word. Teams compete in swarms, with the winning team in each swarm vying for first place in the final round. The team registration deadline is Sept. 10. Individuals are encouraged to support their favorite Bee teams with financial pledges.

Additionally, the alphabet is up for auction. Businesses and individuals can “buy” a letter for just $50 to support the library. All letters are first-come, first-serve, and no letter will be sold twice.
Tickets were available online starting Sept. 7. All proceeds from the Bee support the operating fund of The Free Library of New Hope & Solebury. It is the library’s only fundraising event in 2021.
