The inaugural Art of the River Towns exhibition, sponsored by River Towns Magazine, is set to open at the Prallsville Mills in Stockton N.J., on Thursday, Oct. 1. In the weeks leading up to the show, the Herald will feature one of the local artists accepted for entry.
This week, we are highlighting Margie Milne of Phillipsburg, N.J., who primarily works in oils and charcoal.
“Margie believes it is important for artists to have a well-rounded arts education with classical training as well as extensive exploration of many mediums, both modern and ancient,” Milne says in her artist statement.
“She primarily works in oils and charcoal. But she has studied everything from airbrush, traditional calligraphy, and ceramics to digital art.
“She originally studied illustration at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art, was employed as a draftsman then eventually an engineer. On her early retirement Margie returned to full time art and study with local and regional masters.”
For many years Milne served as the president and board member of Artsbridge, as well as show chair or co-chair for many Artsbridge juried open shows and members’ shows. She also volunteers at the annual Tinicum Arts Festival. She is a member of Artsbridge, the Philadelphia Sketch Club, Allied Artist of America and the Portrait Society of America. Through the years she has won awards at local, regional and national competitions.
