The Art of the River Towns Artist of the Week: Jerry Cable

Posted
The inaugural Art of the River Towns exhibition, sponsored by River Towns Magazine, is set to open at the Prallsville Mills in Stockton N.J., on Thursday, Oct. 1. In the weeks leading up to the show, the Herald will feature one of the local artists accepted for entry.

This week, we are highlighting Jerry Cable of Quakertown, who 50 years ago, as a teenager on a small farm in northeastern Ohio, began a painting career that has carried him to remarkable heights.

“Today, Jerry Cable continues to capture American land and seascapes with his unique, precision style,” Cable says in his artist statement. “Jerry’s paintings connect us to our past, give us hope, and restore a sense of peacefulness in these chaotic times.

“Jerry Cable is part of the artistic legacy of realist painters that has enriched the Delaware Valley for decades. Inspired by locations from Pennsylvania to Maine, Jerry’s paintings depict historic architecture, animal husbandry, quiet landscapes and cherished still-life imagery reflecting everyday life.”

Cable’s work is published in several books, featured on magazine covers, and included in public and private collections across the country. He has exhibited in over 75 juried and non-juried exhibitions, and over 60 solo shows.

Co-chairs Pearl and Chuck Mintzer, have helped to launch the Art of the River Towns Online Sales Gallery at rivertownsmagazine.com.
New work will continue to be added through early October and the online sales gallery will be available until the end of October.
