Tewksbury Historical Society features six gardens in Biennial Garden Tour Bucks premier of Everly Brothers rockumentary set

The Tewksbury Historical Society will sponsor its Biennial Garden Tour on Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Tewksbury Township, N.J., rain or shine.

Six gardens located throughout the township will welcome visitors.

-A 1760 property, where the current guest cottage served as the local blacksmith, is surrounded by several gardens showcasing peonies, irises, tulips hydrangea, lamb ears and ivy. An English garden is surrounded by stone walls.

-Traditional European gardens were the inspiration for eight areas around a newly constructed house. They transition into the wider landscape where each site considers the balance between formal structure and its rural, woodland setting.

-A fully sustainable property where all soil and plants are treated organically sits on land that was an abandoned dairy farm. The owners are a husband-and-wife team with extensive training in the science and the design principles of gardening, resulting in a high level of creativity.

-The South Branch of the Raritan River provides wild trout fishing on property dating to the 1850s. Nestled among extensive old forests are stone walls and a stone terrace with fireplace, dating to the 1930s.

-A long perennial garden is filled with blooming colors all year, self-designed and ever changing. It sits on land once owned by a prominent architect.

-A property with both barns and gardens was created with careful attention to detail, while using both new plants and plants handed down from the owner’s family.

Advance tickets are $40 until 9 p.m. June 9, and $50 on the day of the tour. Tickets are limited and can be purchased online through PayPal at www.tewksburyhistory.net. Click on the Garden Tour page on the left.

All tickets, including those purchased in advance, and locator maps are to be picked up the day of the tour from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tewksbury Historical Society Headquarters, 60 Water St., Lebanon (Mountainville), N.J.. For inquiries contact the Society at tewksburyhistory@gmail.com.

An Incredible Live Concert – Accompanied by a Rockumentary Film

“Forever Everly: The Everly Brothers Rockumentary,” created and performed by musical artists Jared Mancuso, a New Hope-Solebury native, and Nick Gallardo, is ready to “rock-umentary” the stage at the Newtown Theatre at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, June 3.

What’s a “Rockumentary”? Well, in one big breath, it’s a 90-minute concert accompanied by a rockumentary film. It’s about The Everly Brothers, their rise to fame, the turbulence they experienced in the music industry, the artists they influenced, and their big comeback. Mancuso and Gallardo perform the music live, timed along with the film, emulating their iconic harmonies, and bringing audiences back to the early days of rock ‘n roll.

Mancuso and Gallardo, using their musical performance talents coupled with a vision to bring iconic musicians to life, created a unique show surrounding the music of The Everly Brothers. The Everly’s rose to fame in the late 1950s with iconic songs including “Bye Bye Love,” “Wake Up Little Susie,” and “All I Have to Do is Dream,” not to mention nearly a dozen top 40 hits over a multi-decade career.

Gallardo said the duo has a seemingly unknown story. “For some people, they know some of the music, and that’s it. They love these songs, but the Everly Brothers have interesting back story that many people don’t know.”

Added Mancuso, “We’ve had folks come up to us after a show and say, ‘we didn’t know that about them.’ And that always feels good to hear, because we know they know the music, we hear them singing along, but them learning new things is an unexpected twist for their evening with us, and I think that’s what really makes it special.”

In addition to “Forever Everly,” Mancuso created Not Fade Away: Rock ’n’ Roll Reignited,” a somewhat more traditional tribute show. He had been performing nationally as Buddy Holly in “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story,” and Gallardo was fresh from performing an extended stint at Dollywood in Tennessee.

Tickets for “Forever Everly” at the Newtown Theatre are available at www.thenewtowntheatre.com/concerts.
