Terhune Peach Festival offers sweet family fun

Posted

It’s all about peaches at Terhune Orchards’ Just Peachy Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8.
Experience the fun of Pick Your Own Peaches at Terhune’s peach orchard, directly across the street from the festival. The trees are easily accessible to all.
Then head over to the “peachy” festival events featuring family friendly fun. Families can visit Terhune’s barnyard of animals, walk the farm trail and play on the pedal and play tractors. Kids can enjoy pony rides, rubber duck races, interactive, hands-on fun in the Discovery Barn, Little Tots Farm Store and Junior Mechanics Shop, a scavenger hunt and old-fashioned games.
At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, attend Pam’s annual Canning and Freezing class in the Big Barn. Learn her secrets for preserving peaches and other fruits and vegetables at their peak, and get answers to your canning and freezing questions. Peaches, blueberries, tomatoes and corn are easy to freeze or can at the height of their freshness. Follow Pam’s easy directions.
Later in the Big Barn, visitors can enjoy an “Eyes of the Wild” show both days at 12:45 and 2 p.m. This educational traveling zoo program features live animals.
Visitors of all ages can sing and dance along to live country music from Stone Hearth on Saturday (noon to 4 p.m.) and Stoney Brook Bluegrass Band on Sunday (noon to 4 p.m.).

Pam’s Farm Fresh Tent features barbecued chicken and pulled pork, hot dogs, corn on the cob, gazpacho, peach pie and Terhune’s famous apple cider donuts. Or get locally made peach ice cream and peach slush in the Peach Pit Cafe.
At the winery, enjoy a glass of Terhune’s award-winning Just Peachy wine or sample a flight of red, white and fruit wines. Cool off with peach wine slushies.
Stop at the farm store or outdoor farm market for baskets of just-picked peaches and nectarines, fresh, organic vegetables, old-fashioned peach cobbler, peach pie or peach salsa.
Admission to the festival area is $10, ages 3 and up. No admission fee for Pick Your Own Peaches. Winery & Farm Store: for weekend entry, admission tickets must be purchased. Winery seating is a maximum of eight guests per group. Timed tickets must be purchased in advance at terhuneorchards.ticketspice.com/just-peachy-festival.
Terhune Orchards is located at 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton, N.J.
