Temple Judea of Bucks County sets High Holy Days schedule

Posted

Temple Judea of Bucks County members will celebrate Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, both in person and through a livestream option.

Services will be led by Rabbi Sigal and Temple Judea’s resident musician Dan Kahn, who will provide the means for spiritual return and renewal.

The first opportunity to prepare for the New Year through songs and prayers is at Selichot services from 8 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17, at the synagogue, 38 Rogers Road, Furlong, and on Zoom with the Kehillah of Bucks County.

Erev Rosh Hashanah services will be between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Sept. 25, both in the synagogue and via streaming.

Rosh Hashanah services for young families are in person only, from 8:30 to 8:50 a.m. Sept. 26. A virtual guided meditation will take place from 9 to approximately 9:30 a.m., followed by a one-hour morning family service at 9:30 a.m. in person and online.

Starting at 11 a.m. and going until 1 p.m., the main service will provide a contemplative experience that includes reading from the Torah and sounding the shofar. The main service can be accessed in person and online. At 3 p.m., there will be a short in-person Tashlich and shofar sounding at Peace Valley Park, Pavilion No. 5 in which attendees can symbolically cast their sins into Lake Galena.

Yom Kippur will begin with Kol Nidrei services from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 4, both online and in the sanctuary. On Yom Kippur, Oct. 5, an in-person only gathering of young families will happen from 8:30 to 8:50 a.m., followed by a virtual guided meditation from 9 to 9:30 a.m. The Yom Kippur Morning Family service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., can be accessed online or in person as can the main service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Yizkor, an opportunity to remember deceased loved ones, will take place from 1:30 to 2 p.m., remotely and in person. An in-person Learning Circle will run from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m., followed by an in-person opportunity to learn about the Talmud with Rabbi Sigal from 4 to 5 p.m. Neilah service, with the sounding of the shofar, will begin at 5:30 p.m.

This year, no babysitting will be available at High Holy Day services.
