Synchronicity Recovery Foundation receives $10,000 grant

Posted

Synchronicity Recovery Foundation, Ltd. has received a $10,000 grant from the TODAY Inc. Foundation.

Sync Recovery Community is a nonprofit organization that facilitates fun and inspiring events that connect people affected by substance use conditions. SRC uses outdoor recovery adventures, creative arts, sports competitions and other recreational activities to educate community members about recovery resources and maintaining a recovery lifestyle. The Today, Inc. Foundation grant will help administrate the cost of these events.

Participants include those in early recovery and those with recovery experience who want to enhance their recovery lifestyle. Family members and friends are welcome as well. SRC connects newly sober participants to a network of Certified Recovery Specialists, recovery coaches and peer volunteers with experience in the recovery community.

In 2019 each recovery adventure averaged 20 to 30 people. The bowling, basketball tournaments and kayak events each had attendance of over 100. Sync Recovery’s power house event, a sober music festival, known as Rally in the Valley PA, had over 4,000 attendees.

John Howell, executive director of the TODAY Inc. Foundation, helped kick off the first event of 2020 at Doylestown Rock Gym on Jan. 11.

“The support from TODAY Inc. Foundation. is tremendous and will help our participants reclaim a meaningful life in the face of the hardships they have experienced,” said founder Laura Waits. “SRC reinforces the importance of social connectedness, health, spirituality, and service taught in treatment programs and encouraged in after-care plans. The funding enables us to help reduce the rate of recidivism over the long term.”
